WAKE UP AND MAKE UP

Though I’m mostly known for my facial treatments and waxing services, it was actually my love of makeup that got me into the esthetics world. I honestly thought that I would go to esthetics school and perhaps become a pro makeup artist-but the makeup portion of esthetics school is really only for folks that have never put makeup on in their life. I didn’t learn anything new at all. Luckily, I fell in love with the other aspects of esthetics and after one last wedding (and then one last wedding), I retired from doing makeup. Now, I still offer one on one lessons and hope to add some group workshops soon, but my days of hunching over brides and absorbing the chaotic energy that weddings and events give off are over.

Still, though, makeup is a huge part of my life! I love it. I love the colors, textures, the ability to cover a pimple if one rears its ugly head when I have somewhere to go. I love expressing myself through beauty. A couple of years ago, I knew it was time to bring a makeup line into my business. A lot of folks will as me about clean, natural, and/or acne safe products and I’m happy to tell you that the brand that I work with covers those bases (and my angry pimple)!

There are many popular makeup brands that spas/salons carry, so making a decision took quite a bit of time. I wanted something relatively affordable, chic looking, for all ages, skin types, etc. Because Glo is not only a makeup brand but also a skincare brand, I knew I could be confident in the products that they offer. They have foundations, concealers, eye shadows, mascara, eyeliners, lip products, everything! And though I haven’t been able to try every single product, I can tell you that every single product that I’ve tried is in regular rotation in my makeup routine. Let’s learn a little bit more about Glo!

From their website:

We begin with skin, and build our makeup to elevate and enhance. We believe all makeup should be skincare-based, that’s why we use only the finest mineral makeup, infused with nourishing skincare ingredients including antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E, green tea, shea butter, and hyaluronic acid. Color that truly cares, our mineral makeup is suitable for all skin types—even sensitive. Starting with your base, whether sheer, medium, or full coverage, our liquid, cream, and powder foundations, primers, or concealers, and tints will help even tone and texture for your own take on complexion perfection. Play with contouring and highlighting to faux your glow with our kits and dewy skin highlighting balm. Blend in a powder or cream blush, or bronzer choosing from our delicious range of hues, perfect for popping cheeks and high points.

Experiment with different eyeshadow effects to create your perfect, effortless smokey eye, or winged liner. If you’re looking for conditioning lip color, whether matte, gloss, high-shine, or liner, our lip lineup offers a rich mix of natural to notice-me shades. And, don’t forget the brows. Essential face-framers, fluffy, statement, or subtle, whatever your brow mood, our brow liners and gel let you play out all your looks effortlessly. We also have a pro-level edit of makeup brushes and tools to help you nail your artistry.

Don’t you love the sound of that?

Now, of course there are plenty of drugstore makeup options that I love. You’ll have to pry Maybelline’s Express Brow Fast Sculpt Gel Mascara from my cold, dead hands. But for those of you who are looking for something on a different level, or something that won’t irritate your skin/eyes, I think Glo is a great place to start. You can find their price list here (scroll until you see Glo!) and an invoice can be emailed to you for easy ordering. If you need help choosing colors, reach out! I’m happy to send you their website link to view options (though orders are easily placed through me directly). Let’s get Glo-ing!

love & lipstick,

Cherrie

P.S. There really is something for everyone, whether you’re a more natural type or looking for something bolder. Choosing can be overwhelming, but don’t stress! That’s what I’m here for.
