scary good skin

In honor of Halloween, I thought I’d compile a list of some of my favorite masks and a little bit about what they do. Jason is gonna have to sit this one out, because I’m here to help you slay…the skincare game (yes, I’m corny. I can’t help it. It’s who I am)!

First up is Hale & Hush’s Hush Hydrate Gel. What’s so great about this product? Well, for starters, it’s double duty. This can be used as a lightweight moisturizer OR as a mask, and it’s wonderfully hydrating and calming. Perfect for any skin that has a compromised barrier or just needs a moisture boost. I use it in almost every single facial! Pro tip: Mix in a few shakes of Relief Bio-Powder to help minimize redness and soothe the skin. There’s even a duo kit for that!

Image Skincare’s Purifying Probiotic Mask is one of my go-tos in the treatment room and also at home. My medicine cabinet currently has two of them because I can’t bear to be without it. It can be used for several different types of skin, too. Not only does it reduce oil and shine from oilier skin, it helps to reduce breakouts and also balances the skin so that it can retain hydration better. I’ve used it on clients with clear but unbalanced skin and also on clients with breakouts, and it works well for both. It smells really nice and leaves skin feeling fresh and smooth. You’ve probably seen me with it on Instagram-I call it the Hulk mask (because it’s green and powerful!).

I’ve impressed upon you the importance of exfoliation, but not OVER-exfoliation, and a great way to get into the habit is by using something that is gentle, non-abrasive, and smells good. Image Skincare’s Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque has got you covered. This is perfect for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin and rosacea. It can be left on for as little as five minutes or as long as thirty, which makes it a great option for folks who are on the go but also like to treat themselves with longer self care sessions once in a while. You’ll love it, I swear.

If you’re looking for something to take your masking to the next level, you’ll love my next choice. It has a blend of glycolic and salicylic acids, jojoba beads for gentle physical exfoliation, and leaves skin smooth, bright, and revitalized. While I love the Image Skincare Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque on its own, it REALLY shines when it’s used with the aforementioned Hydrating Enzyme Masque. Pro tip: Applying the Ageless Total Resurfacing Masque and gently massaging it in for a minute, then adding the Hydrating Enzyme on top and letting it sit for 15 or so minutes will give you the results of a mini peel. Lines will be smoothed, breakouts treated, and your skin will GLOW!

Y’all know I love a good sheet mask, so I’d be remiss to not mention the fact that Image Skincare offers a great one. The Hydrating Hydrogel Sheet Mask feels so nice on the skin and will give an instant boost of hydration. Pro tip 1: Pop the mask into the fridge for a little bit before you put it on for a nice cooling effect. Pro tip 2: After applying the mask to your face, take the remaining serum in the pouch and massage gently into your neck and decollete. These areas are often overlooked and could use the love!

I love to mask once or twice a week, especially when I have a day off and want to spend a little extra time on my self care. But it doesn’t always work out that way. Occasionally I’m washing dishes with a green face or running into the bathroom to apply my next step between commercials. Whatever works, right? Remember to make your skincare routine work for YOU! Applying skincare should make us feel good, not overwhelmed. There’s nothing scarier than stress!

So, tell me, what’s your favorite mask? Is it something listed above? Something from a cool brand I’ve never heard of? I’d love to know! Sharing is caring.

love & lipstick (& beautiful skin),

Cherrie

P.S. All of these masks are linked so that you can easily find them in my shop. I use all of them in the treatment room too, so you know that I stand by them. And don’t forget, you can always use Afterpay!
